The Defense Industrial Base (DIB) is that group of contractors and
subcontractors that aid the United States' national security efforts by
providing technology and services to the Department of Defense and related
agencies. Due to the nature of their mission, these prime and
sub-contractors have a unique set of security requirements.
While
some of their work is classified by the government at one of several levels,
even their unclassified information may be considered Controlled
Unclassified Information or Critical Program Information, requiring special
handling and safeguarding.
In addition, some of the technology
developed by the DIB may be export restricted under either the International
Traffic In Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Bureau of Industry and Security
(BIS) rules and regulations. Penalties for even accidently violating these
regulations can be severe and include jail time.
CyberCecurity has
extensive expertise in dealing with the requirements of the defense industry
including creating policies, designing operations, conducting penetration
tests, training developers in a security development life cycle process, red
team exercises and managing the facility clearance process. Many of
CyberCecurity's associates either hold or have held DoD security clearances
at different levels.
All defense contractors are now required to
follow
DFAR 252.204-7012, Safeguarding Defense Information and Cyber Incident
Reporting. This is a mandatory contract clause and a required flow down
to sub-contractors.
